Workshop Overview

Please join us for a hands-in workshop on how to make your own biodiesel from free used cooking oil.  Workshops are 5-6 hours in length and are intended for those who are serious about learning all about the craft of making biodiesel.

You will learn:

  • What biodiesel is (and is not)

  • Myths and facts about biodiesel

  • How it can be made at home

  • Simple tests for biodiesel quality

  • Where and how it can be used

  • Safe storage and handling of supplies and equipment

  • How to find, qualify, collect and transport free used cooking oil

You will get to:

  • Perform a titration test of the oil to tell how 'used' it is

  • Qualify oil from restaurants you want to work with

  • See a 40 gallon batch of biodiesel being made using the FuelMeister

  • Perform quality tests on examples of good and bad biodiesel

You will receive:

  • A handbook - a detailed workshop handbook will be provided free

  • A mini-batch of biodiesel - to take home that you make at the workshop. If you want to use the workshop to help qualify one or more potential oil sources for you, then read the Application Note on developing sources of used oil.
